Description Assistant Professor of Adult Learning and Adult Education in the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Maintain an active research agenda and engage in ongoing research projects in the field. Pursue external funding opportunities to assist in advancing the research agenda. Teach the Adult Learning PhD and the EdPsych Online Adult Education courses; teach graduate courses in both synchronous and asynchronous online environments. Serve on graduate committees. Advise graduate students in Adult Learning (PhD) and EdPsych Online (MS) programs. Occasionally teach on-campus or online introductory and advanced qualitative research courses. Be a collegial and respectful citizen in the department with understanding of diversity, civility, and inclusion. Qualifications Required - Earned doctorate in Adult Education, Adult Learning, or closely related discipline by the date of appointment. Evidence of scholarly achievement in adult education and adult learning with specializations in one or more of the following areas: adult learning, adult development, adult education, self-directed learning, workplace learning, community-based adult education, adult literacy, adult basic education, online and distance education, adult education for traditionally underrepresented populations, history and philosophy of adult education, and multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusion in adult education. Evidence of scholarly achievement and/or preparation in qualitative research methodology. Interest in delivering distance education courses. Demonstrated ability to work collegially with others including faculty, staff, and students. Interest in acquiring external grant funding to help support research agenda. Desired: An earned graduate qualitative research methodology certificate, an educational research certificate focused in qualitative research, or a related qualitative research graduate certificate from a respective institution by the date of appointment; university teaching experience both with online and face-to-face courses; online teaching experience with both asynchronous and synchronous methods; a record of peer-reviewed publications; a successful record of obtaining external funding to support scholarly research, and collaborative research working with adult educators and learners in the field.
