Brief Description of Duties
The University of the District of Columbia, College of Arts and Sciences, Division of Education, Health and Social Work invites applications for a full-time, nine month, tenure-track faculty appointment in Adult Education with a target start date of August 2020.

It has historically been a minority serving institution. The University services approximately 5,000 students across its two-year baccalaureate, masters, and professional programs. The Washington metropolitan community provides an exceptional learning laboratory for faculty, staff, and students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses face to face, with possible opportunities for hybrid or online instruction.Serving on division, program, college, and/or university committees, maintaining an active research agenda, working collaboratively with program faculty and area partners.Performing service, administrative, and accreditation-related tasks as necessary to enhance the quality of the program.,Performing tasks related to the development of excellence in educator preparation at UDC.
Minimum Job Requirements
1. An earned doctorate with an emphasis in Adult Education, Adult Learning and Development, or a related field from an accredited college or university OR a Master's in Adult Education with an earned doctorate in a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
2. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
3. Outstanding communication skills.
4. Ability to engage with diverse groups, show sensitivity to variations across age, gender socioeconomic status, ethnicity, language, cultural, national origin, and prior training and educational experience.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience teaching in higher education setting.
2. Established record of scholarly productivity.
3. A demonstrated record of membership and participation in relevant professional organizations.
4. Hold certification or licensure pertinent to the profession.
5. Experience with CAEP or NCATE is strongly preferred.
A candidate for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor shall be required to meet the following qualifications:
An appropriate terminal degree or agree to complete this degree within a period of time to be specified in the terms of the initial contract; andAt least three (3) years of full-time teaching experience, including two (2) years in an institution of higher education.
Appropriate professional experience and achievements may be substituted when formal teaching experience is limited or absent.
When formal teaching experience is limited or absent, the candidate shall be required to demonstrate verifiable potential for effective teaching.
A candidate for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor shall be required to meet the following qualifications:
An earned doctorate or the highest appropriate credential in the field of specialization, or experience and achievements comparable to the doctorate;A record of scholarship and professional growth; andAt least five (5) years of full-time teaching experience in an institution of higher education, including three (3) years as an Assistant Professor.
Appropriate professional experience and achievements may be substituted when formal teaching experience is limited or absent.
