Job Summary: Adult Education is seeking to hire an instructor for the satellite campus in Kingsland, AR, Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 5:00pm,, Friday 8:00am to 12:00pm. The adult education instructors are professionals with the responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for Southeast Arkansas College adult education students. Adult education employees report to the department director to perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the Adult Education department and the College. The relationship of the adult education instructor to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning. This position is grant-funded; continued funding for this position is determined by the availability of State funding and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities: Contributes to the overall achievement of the college’s mission and goals through effective instruction and classroom management. Plans and prepares for assigned instructional courses using managed enrollment methods. Creates and maintains an environment of rapport and respect. Maintains up-to-date accurate records on attendance and student progress. Structures classroom activities and assignments based on learning outcomes. Engages in self-assessment of teaching practices and professional development needs. Perform other duties as assigned. Responsibility includes the requirement to meet or exceed the core indicators of performance as negotiated by Arkansas Career Education (ACE) and the State of Arkansas.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Candidates for this position must possess a thorough knowledge of the teaching field, a commitment to high academic standards, a dedication to student success, and excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. A shared vision for preparing students to achieve their goals and an ability and willingness to use novel teaching techniques and technology to engage today’s learner is essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current Arkansas Teaching License in any field
If not already licensed in adult education, the selected candidate must become licensed in adult education by the Arkansas Department of Education. Professional Licensure must be obtained within three years of the date of initial employment. Newly hired teachers must show academic progression towards adult education licensure annually.
Bachelor’s degree
Three to five years of recent teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified with a Master’s in Adult Education, with formal classroom teaching experience is preferred.
Salary: Commensurate with candidate experience and qualifications. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
