General Description:
The Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK) is seeking a visionary and dynamic Adult Education Director to join the SEARK team. This critical, full-time position will provide leadership in the development and implementation of program outcomes and accountability measures for the Adult Education Program and Title II of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), adult basic education, English Language Acquisition, Integrated Education and Training (IET) and adult secondary education programs. The Adult Education Director oversees daily program logistics for the Southeast Arkansas College Adult Education program, including training, supervising, and evaluating Adult Education teachers and staff; program planning, curriculum and instruction, community partnerships; scheduling; related facility management; budgeting; and data reporting.
Major Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the Vice President of Academic Affairs, develops operating goals and objectives for student recruitment, enrollment, completion, and retention, program quality, and teacher training for the adult education program.
Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and coordinates English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), GED programs, and support staff.
Creates, implements, and manages the adult education program, including curricula management, teacher training, scheduling, enrollment and assessment processes, and data reporting.
Coordinates record-keeping for student enrollment, participation, completion, and retention.
Monitors, analyzes, and implements data-driven improvements to Adult Education systems and student processes for improved customer service for students which results in improved access, persistence, and completion.
Coordinates and implements various recruitment programs and marketing strategies for adult education programs and special activities.
Completes and oversees the Adult Education’s state and federal grant budgets and allocations.
Manages and coordinates community workshops, special events, and recruitment and retention efforts for programs, as needed.
Collaborates with WIOA partners, business and industry, and other community partners in meeting the program’s goals and objectives.
Oversees the preparation and submission of financial and quarterly reports and other documents as required.
Serves as Director of the Delta Literacy Council, supervising the literacy specialist.
Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in a qualified area of education or administration is required, plus a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a leadership and management role in adult basic education.
If not already licensed in adult education, the selected candidate must become licensed in adult education by the Arkansas Department of Education. Professional Licensure must be obtained within (3) years of the date of initial employment as an adult education administrator.
The candidate should have demonstrated ability in educational leadership, program management, budgeting, and staff supervision and evaluation.
Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, upon review of the Qualifications Review Committee.
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with strong analytic skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of ABE, WAGE and ESL practices, policies, research and current issues
Experience with and the ability to facilitate group decision-making
Experience with leadership of and educational system or program
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with funders and policy makers
Demonstrated ability in program design and proposal development
