This position will be responsible for teaching Basic Studies classes (e.g. Adult Basic Education/ABE, General Education Development/GED, High School+/HS+) and possibly some classes to English for Speakers of Other Languages depending on qualifications. Faculty will assist in program development that assures implementation and compliance with state and federal policies and grant regulations, and lead adjunct faculty in developing curricula that support the College's mission and values, as well as the Washington State College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS). The College seeks faculty who will: take a leadership role in their department and the College; will be flexible and adapt to a variety of teaching situations; can use technology to teach effectively; and will work effectively with students, staff, and others. The teaching schedule may include daily or block classes and some evening, as per the needs of the College. The position reports to the Associate Dean for the Basic Studies Department and is part of the Workforce Development & Basic Studies Division. The primary worksite is the Bremerton campus but may include occasional teaching or coordination duties at OC branch campuses/sites. This full-time position is scheduled for 20 contact hours per week. Teaching assignments include in-person, online, or hybrid courses. Essential Functions
Prepare and teach assigned Basic Studies course(s) per college catalog, schedule of classes, course outlines, course syllabi, and any departmental guidelines;
Provide quality teaching to single and multi-level classes through various delivery methods, including eLearning, and learning community activities;
Contribute to the development of curriculum and student learning outcomes;
Prepare clear and measurable objectives aligned to course outcomes and CCRS, course syllabi, course materials, and learning experiences for each course;
Implement assessment measures that achieve course, program, and college learning outcomes, and use the results to strengthen the curricula;
Administer Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) Appraisal, Pre-tests, and Post-tests, and collect, submit, and analyze data for program reporting in Web-based Adult Basic Education Reporting System (WABERS).
Utilize teaching strategies (e.g. integrated and/or contextualized instruction) for individual learning styles and unique learning needs of a diverse adult population to facilitate student learning and student success;
Provide academic advising and mentoring to assist all students in setting, documenting, and monitoring progress toward meaningful personal and educational goals;
Provide quarterly course syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division and as required by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC);
Attend and participate in faculty, department, and division meetings;
Assist Department with the growth of Basic Studies, offering other faculty coaching and mentoring;
Maintain and post physical student office hours, accessible to provide services and consultation to students, staff, and the community;
Meet record-keeping obligations on time, e.g. grades, course records, census documents, reports, rosters;
Work with college and community partners to maintain, improve and promote services to target populations;
Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in Adult / Developmental Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
Two (2) year's Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) experience teaching/team teaching adults.
Intermediate level computer competency, including Microsoft Office Applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited College or University in Adult / Developmental Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics.
Two (2) year's Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) experience teaching/team teaching in a community college setting.
Experience implementing Basic Skills requirements of the Washington SBCTC,e.g., Washington Adult Learning Standards (WALS), CCRS familiarity;
Experience administering the CASAS appraisals, pre-tests, and post-tests.

Additional Information Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment and annually thereafter.
The successful candidate will be required to complete RCW 28B.112 Sexual Misconduct Declaration.
Terms of Employment This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience.The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Application Process Application materials must be submitted online.
